Tokyo Station area guide
Use this page to make the first decision at Tokyo Station: stay inside the JR gates or leave on the Yaesu side? Aya has walked these routes and photographed the places below so travelers can choose the right exit, meal, shopping stop, or bus terminal without opening ten tabs at once.

Use GRANSTA Tokyo, Ramen Kaminari, station shops, or your Shinkansen gate.
Follow a Yaesu exit for Yaechika, GRANSTA Yaesu, TOFROM, and Midtown.
Confirm Area A, Area B, Yaesu South Exit, or Yaesu-dori before walking.
Choose the correct side
Aya’s simplified orientation map
Start here for Daimaru, the north end of Yaechika, MOS Burger, Sushiro, and the TOFROM / Terminal A direction.
Aya’s default meeting point. It is the clearest common start for Yaechika and for deciding between the north and south branches.
Useful for the separate JR highway-bus stop, Granroof, and the Tokyo Midtown Yaesu / Terminal B direction.
Use the 1F map to identify your passage and the nearest way down, then use the B1 map to choose between the Gin-no-Suzu, Square Zero, and Marunouchi-side areas. GRANSTA Tokyo is largely inside the JR paid area, so check your destination before leaving through a ticket gate.
On 1F, confirm whether you are near the North, Central, or South Passage.
Choose a nearby staircase, escalator, or elevator to reach B1.
On B1, check the color-coded areas and follow signs for your shop or facility.
For Gin-no-Suzu and PRESS BUTTER SAND, stay inside the gates and head toward the Silver Bell waiting area.

Choose by situation

Choose by queue, gate location, and walking time—not by reviews alone. MOS Burger is a predictable outside-the-gates option; Aya’s comparison guide helps you protect the final 15–20 minutes before departure.

Sushiro is in Yaechika outside the JR gates. Ramen Kaminari is inside the paid JR area, so it works best when you are already traveling by JR and do not need to leave the station gates first.
Gate check: Sushiro is outside; Kaminari is inside.

Find the exact boarding place before eating. Bus Terminal Tokyo Yaesu A is beneath TOFROM YAESU, while B is beneath Tokyo Midtown Yaesu. The JR highway-bus stop by Yaesu South Exit is separate.

Confirm the train name, departure time, platform, car, and seat before leaving the paid area. If your departure is close, buy an ekiben or use an inside-the-gates option instead of crossing into Yaechika.

Tokyo Midtown Yaesu has shared seating and a B1 baby rest room. TOFROM YAESU has elevators, family facilities, and public rest space. Use the detailed guides to choose the building that fits your route.

Looking for sweets inside Tokyo Station? Try the new Premium Nama Butter Sand at GRANSTA Tokyo, inside the JR ticket gates. Aya’s photo guide explains how to find the shop, get a numbered ticket, and buy this refrigerated treat. Outside the gates, use the small Donki in Yaechika or compare wider Tokyo Station gift options.

After leaving the JR paid area on the Yaesu side, Yaechika connects to both Tokyo Midtown Yaesu and TOFROM YAESU. Normal passage access is not an all-night guarantee, so late-night bus passengers should use the terminal’s current instructions.
Know each place’s role

The practical underground spine of the Yaesu side. It connects Tokyo Station with restaurants, shops, Tokyo Midtown Yaesu, and TOFROM YAESU. Aya uses the north area for MOS Burger, Sushiro, and Donki; follow current signs because tenants and detours can change.
See the location guide
A station-side restaurant, café, service, and shopping area outside the ticket gates. Do not confuse it with GRANSTA Tokyo, which is mainly inside the paid JR area. Use the official directory to check the exact floor and gate status of each shop.
Open the official GRANSTA guide ↗
A food-focused complex with restaurants, casual counters, public rest space, family facilities, and the Area A bus terminal connection. Aya’s practical stop is the lower commercial zone and Hinokichō Square before moving to the correct bus gate.
Read the TOFROM YAESU guide
A mixed-use mall with shopping, cafés, restaurants, shared seating, and family services. Aya recommends 2F Yaesu Public for a flexible break; the B1 baby rest room is useful with small children.
Read the Tokyo Midtown Yaesu guide
Area A is beneath TOFROM YAESU and Area B is beneath Tokyo Midtown Yaesu. Their boards and gates are separate. A ticket that says Tokyo Station Yaesu South Exit or Yaesu-dori names a different stop, not this terminal.
Identify the correct bus terminalTime-based plans
Confirm the next ticket gate and platform before leaving the paid area.
If outside, choose MOS or the shortest quick-meal queue. If staying inside, use an inside-gates meal or ekiben.
Finish payment, return the tray, and reorganize bags.
Return to the correct gate and platform with a protected 20-minute margin.
Go to the exact A or B area and confirm today’s departure board and gate.
Eat in the same building: TOFROM for A or Tokyo Midtown Yaesu for B.
Use the restroom, buy a drink, and retrieve any stored luggage.
Return to the gate and wait where staff can see your ticket.
Leave through the Yaesu Underground Central Exit and enter Yaechika.
Choose a meal in Yaechika, TOFROM, or Midtown without going outside.
Browse Donki or pause at an indoor public seating area.
Return early; underground distances feel longer with crowds and luggage.
Confirmed practical help
Aya confirmed lockers in Bus Terminal Tokyo Yaesu Area A, and Tokyo Station has several locker zones. Empty large compartments are never guaranteed, so keep a staffed-storage backup.
Use the MULTI ECUBE and luggage guide →TOFROM’s public rest space, 2F Yaesu Public in Tokyo Midtown Yaesu, and terminal waiting areas are useful—but restaurant and public seats can fill at peak times.
See Aya’s photographed rest spaces →Follow the latest floor-directory symbols. Aya confirmed baby-care facilities at TOFROM, a B1 baby rest room at Midtown, and nursing rooms in both bus-terminal areas.
See the family-facility guide →Do not treat an underground connection as 24-hour access. After 11 p.m., shutters restrict movement between Terminal A and B, so follow the terminal’s current late-night route.

Yes. Leave the JR paid area on the Yaesu side, enter Yaechika, and follow the underground signs to Tokyo Midtown Yaesu. Passage access and detours can change, especially late at night.
It depends on the ticket. Bus Terminal Tokyo Yaesu A is under TOFROM YAESU; B is under Tokyo Midtown Yaesu. The JR highway-bus stop at Yaesu South Exit and the Yaesu-dori stop are separate locations.
No. Yaechika is outside the JR paid area. Travelers arriving by JR must pass through a Yaesu ticket gate before entering it.
Both descriptions can be true because the name covers several areas. GRANSTA Tokyo is mainly inside the gates, while GRANSTA Yaesu and GRANSTA Yaekita are outside. Check the exact facility name.
Aya recommends Yaesu Central Exit as the clearest all-purpose starting point. Choose North for TOFROM and the north end of Yaechika, or South for the separate JR highway-bus stop and the Midtown direction.
Yes for outside-the-gates places such as Yaechika, GRANSTA Yaesu, TOFROM YAESU, and Tokyo Midtown Yaesu. Inside-the-gates shops require valid access to the JR paid area.
