After visiting the Ginza and Yaechika shops, photographing the shelves, and trying several Donki-original foods, I narrowed my recommendations to the snacks, beauty products, souvenirs, and original items actually worth checking. I also explain what I would compare at a drugstore, 100-yen shop, or electronics retailer before buying.

If you do not want to decode every crowded shelf, start with my list. I chose seven Donki originals or character products, then added five national brands that international shoppers bought heavily at Donki but may also find at drugstores.

2. A convenient branch near Tokyo Station: Ginza Honkan
I visited Don Quijote Ginza Honkan. It is not inside Tokyo Station, but I find it practical from the Tokyo Station area: take the JR Yamanote or Keihin-Tōhoku Line to Shimbashi, then walk about five minutes from the Ginza Exit. The official address is Ginza Nine No. 3, 8-10 Ginza, Chuo City.

The branch lists tax-free service, medicines, alcohol, several cashless payment methods, and no regular closing day. Because it operates 24 hours, I find it particularly useful after department stores and many specialist shops have closed. During my visits, most of the late-night shoppers I saw appeared to be international visitors. That is my personal observation, not an official customer-demographic statistic.
Akihabara also has a 24-hour Don Quijote close to the Electric Town Exit, and I find it convenient when I am already sightseeing there. For a general Donki shopping trip, however, I recommend Ginza Honkan: in my experience, its overall range is substantially broader, especially when you want to compare food, souvenirs, beauty items, and travel goods in one visit. Stock changes by date and branch, so this is my on-the-ground recommendation rather than a guarantee that every specific item will be available.
3. What is on each floor?
The two floors overlap in places, so use this as an orientation guide rather than a guarantee that a particular product is always in the same aisle. I photographed the floor map during my visit because it is especially useful when the store is crowded.

4. What international shoppers bought most in 2026
Don Quijote’s official “Inbound Hit Award” ranked the following cosmetics by tax-free unit sales from January through June 2026. This is a purchase ranking, not a search ranking, product test, or list of Donki-exclusive goods.

5. What does Jōnetsu Kakaku mean?
Jōnetsu Kakaku is Don Quijote’s original brand
情熱価格 is read Jōnetsu Kakaku and literally combines the ideas of “passion” and “price.” PPIH, the group behind Don Quijote, describes it as a customer-built People Brand: customer feedback is used to develop and improve the products.
Jōnetsu Kakaku products are developed by the PPIH group and may also appear at MEGA Don Quijote or other stores in the group. Unless a product is specifically labeled as a Donki exclusive, you may find it at another PPIH store. Selection still differs by branch.
- Look for 情熱価格 on the package. This separates the original-brand item from a national brand sold by many retailers.
- Do not treat the brand name as a lowest-price guarantee. Compare like-for-like sizes before buying.
- Check the release information for exclusivity. Without a specific Donki-only label, the product may also be sold by another PPIH store.
6. TKG-style rice sauce: the souvenir that needs an explanation
卵かけご飯 (tamago kake gohan, usually shortened to TKG) is a simple Japanese comfort food made by mixing raw egg and soy sauce into hot rice. Donki’s 情熱価格 卵かけ風ご飯のたれ recreates that style without requiring the buyer to prepare a raw egg and soy sauce separately.
- 1Cook a bowl of hot rice
Plain short-grain rice is the closest match, but any freshly cooked rice can work.
- 2Snap the divided container
The soy-based sauce and egg sauce are held in separate sections. Fold the pack to release them together.
- 3Pour and mix
Empty both sauces over the rice, mix thoroughly, and eat immediately.
Of everything I tried for this guide, this was easily the most delicious. The rich egg flavor and savory soy sauce make an ordinary bowl of hot rice deeply satisfying, with almost no preparation. If you buy only one food item from this list, make it this one—I genuinely want every visitor to try it.
You do not add a fresh raw egg, but the sauce itself contains egg. The official product information also lists wheat and soy. It is not suitable for someone avoiding egg because of an allergy.
The standard award product contains eight 18g portions, 144g in total, and can be stored at room temperature while unopened. It can also be used on udon or other savory dishes. Check the destination country’s rules for bringing in processed foods containing egg.
7. Shiitake snack: a savory Donki original I tried
情熱価格 しいたけスナック バター醤油風味 turns sliced shiitake mushrooms into a crisp snack with a butter-and-soy-sauce flavor. The front of the package identifies it in English as “Shiitake Mushroom Snack Butter Soy Sauce Flavor,” which makes it easier for an international visitor to recognize on the shelf.
I found that the seasoning powder clung generously to each mushroom, so the butter-and-soy-sauce flavor came through clearly rather than tasting faint. To me, it was crisp, deeply savory, and genuinely delicious—especially if you enjoy umami-rich snacks. I also think it makes a better conversation piece than a national-brand snack available at any convenience store. As with all Jōnetsu Kakaku items, availability and package design can vary by branch.
8. Hokkaido Cream Cheese Dessert: strawberry or matcha
情熱価格 北海道クリームチーズデザート いちご／抹茶 launched in April 2026 as a souvenir that can be stored at room temperature while unopened. Each bag contains five individually sealed 18g pieces, so it is easier to share and pack than a refrigerated block of cheese.

The official launch price was ¥322 including tax, and the unopened shelf life was four months from manufacture. Those are launch details, not a promise about today’s shelf price or remaining shelf life. Read the actual package and remember that room-temperature storage does not override your destination country’s dairy-import rules.

紅生姜 (beni shōga) is thin ginger pickled in a sweet-sour liquid and commonly served with foods such as gyūdon, yakisoba, or okonomiyaki. The cracker is not a bag of wet pickled ginger: it turns that tangy, gingery idea into a dry rice-snack seasoning. The official 82g product uses Japanese rice and lists milk, wheat, sesame, soy, and pork among its allergens.
10. Regional Donpenman Chocolate: a Donki character souvenir
ご当地ドンペンマンチョコ was released on September 1, 2026 through Don Quijote group stores, excluding some branches. Despite “regional” in the name, this chocolate series was the first regional Donpen product planned for nationwide Donki distribution.
The official launch price was ¥172 including tax. There are 20 collectible designs, including a secret design, using Donpen characters created from ideas by Donki store POP writers. It is small, unmistakably connected to the store, and more distinctive than buying an ordinary national-brand chocolate bar. If you find a design you like, buy it then because stock can sell out.
11. Roasted sweet potato: part of the shopping experience
情熱価格 焼き芋 won Donki’s 2025 “Majica Voice: I Like It!” category, with 5,626 positive votes recorded for the award period. Look near the hot-food area and eat it while it is still warm. Donki says it mainly uses the sweet, moist Beni Haruka variety and trains staff through an internal roasted-sweet-potato program.
This is not a flight-home souvenir. It is soft, fragrant, perishable, and fresh produce can cause quarantine problems. Buy one during the shopping trip and count it as part of the Donki experience.
12. Optional find: the Tokyo Donpen figure
If you see ご当地ドンペンフィギュア 東京都, it can work as a non-food Tokyo souvenir. Its design shows Tokyo’s illuminated buildings and a Donki store, evoking the city’s night market. The official launch price was ¥2,749 including tax.
Keep it outside the core shopping list. The first release planned only 20 to 200 figures per participating store in each prefecture, so stock was never guaranteed. Confirm that the package says 東京都 before buying.
13. Cannot reach Ginza? Try the Donki shop in Yaechika
If getting to Ginza Honkan is difficult, there is a smaller Okashi Donki and Osake Donki shop in Yaechika (Yaesu Underground Shopping Mall), directly connected to the Tokyo Station area. It specializes in snacks and alcohol rather than offering Ginza Honkan’s full range, but it carries a selection of Donki staples and can be a practical last-minute stop. Stock is limited and changes, so use it as a convenient alternative—not a guarantee that every product in this guide will be available.

14. Is Don Quijote cheaper than a drugstore or Daiso?
Sometimes—but not automatically. I think Donki is strongest when you value late hours, one-stop shopping, unusual products, and its original brand. For anything expensive, I compare the exact model, size, quantity, and final tax-included price.

15. What I would not buy without comparing first
- Large electronics: compare model numbers, warranty coverage, voltage, plug type, and the specialist-retailer price.
- Ordinary drugstore cosmetics: Bioré, Fino, Anessa, and similar national brands may be cheaper during a drugstore promotion.
- Simple 100-yen goods: compression bags, pouches, and basic stationery can cost less at Daiso, Seria, or Can Do.
- Bulky or fragile souvenirs: suitcase space and breakage risk can erase a small discount.
- Knives and restricted items: airline, customs, and destination-country rules matter more than the shelf price.
Confirm the product name, quantity, tax-included price marked 税込, expiry date, allergens, storage instructions, and whether items are individually wrapped. Launch prices and old social-media posts are not reliable evidence of today’s price.
16. Japan’s refund-method tax-free system
For purchases made on or after November 1, 2026, Japan uses the refund method. Eligible visitors pay the tax-inclusive price at a registered tax-free shop. Eligible purchases must total at least ¥5,000 before tax per store per day. Within 90 days of purchase, complete the customs confirmation at your departure airport or seaport before checking any bag that contains the goods. The shop or its refund provider returns the amount equivalent to consumption tax after customs confirms export.
Food, cosmetics, and other consumables used in Japan are not eligible for customs confirmation, so keep every registered item and your original documents with you. Discounts and tax-free refunds may not combine, and returns can require the original payment method, goods, and receipt. Does Jōnetsu Kakaku mean “only sold at Don Quijote”?
Not necessarily. It is PPIH’s original People Brand, but products may also appear at MEGA Don Quijote or other stores in the group. Check the individual release if you want a Donki-exclusive item.
Does the TKG sauce contain egg?
Yes. You do not need to add a fresh egg, but the sauce contains egg and also lists wheat and soy. Check the current allergen label.
